Fandoms: 'Mordant's Need (Stephen Donaldson), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), Psmith (P G Wodehouse), Dimsie (Dorita Fairlie Bruce).
First up: thank you so much for volunteering to write one of these fandoms! Please do write what you feel inspired by; the below thoughts are just in case they're useful to you. (And my apologies for the delay; it's been One Of Those Months. If it's too late for anything here to be useful, don't worry at all :) ). I really will be thrilled with whatever you write.
Having said that: I tend to prefer fics that at least end positively (angst en route is fine!). I really love character interactions, character reactions to things, and people dealing with new stuff, changes, or difficulties -- those things that make us have to rethink the way we model the world.
I'm not enthusiastic about detailed descriptions of major mental/physical distress (if someone gets hurt & it's plot-relevant then fine, but whumpage for the sake of it not really my thing), misogyny, or racism.
Mordant's Need (Stephen Donaldson)
I adore these books; they're massive comfort-reading for me, and I've read them a *lot* over the years. I love Terisa and Geraden, so for once I'm fine with het :) although not really after anything graphic. I'd love future-fic -- what happens to all of them, after? I'd be particularly interested in how Elega and Prince Kragen are doing a few years down the line; or how Mordant rebuilds after the events in the books. Or events from the past of the characters. Anything more in this world, basically, would be awesome.
10 Things I Hate About You
If you're pinch-hitting, this might be the one to choose :) This is a comfort-watch, rather than a comfort-read; I think the women in this are all great, in their various ways, and I'd love to see something focussed on them -- especially Kat.
Psmith (P G Wodehouse)
I love the style, language, and humour in these. I'm not averse to slash, but would strongly prefer nothing too graphic. Given the current cricketing situation, I find myself contemplating Mike, Psmith, and the Ashes... :)
Dimsie (Dorita Fairlie Bruce)
More of Dimsie's school adventures? Or, what happens to her later on? (I think there are later books, but I only ever read the Dimsie-at-school ones.) Just another fun school-story would be great, though. I'd much rather read gen for this, as they're childhood favourites.
Hope this is all helpful! I can't wait to read what you come up with :)
